I wanted to write to thank you for your work to enable us to buy Mr Toad. 

 

I thought the service, patience and thoroughness of you and your company was excellent. From my point of view, you were always very knowledgeable and helpful on all issues, which made it a lot easier as a buyer to have confidence and to move forwards. 

 

At the final transfer, it was great to have all the documentation put together in such an organised fashion, I really appreciated that. 

 

We did manage to get the boat to Portsmouth on Sunday. We went through the Sutton lock at 0745, and got into Port Solent at 2030, so about 12.5 hours. Managed to keep up 11 to 12 knots most of the way, a bit more in some of the flatter stuff. Boat went well. 

 

Look forward to bringing it down to the West again in future summers.

We began looking for a yacht in February 2019 and found three that met our Spec. at two Brokers in Plymouth. We met Mike Harkness at Sutton Harbour Marina who took us to view Spellbound in the Marina next to the Brokerage office. 

It was a crisp cold day but the yacht heating was on and the boat fully prepared for a thorough inspection with Mike answering all of our questions straightforwardly and accurately. 

The other two inspections on the same day with another brokerage firm were onto cold, damp, unprepared boats which was a different experience entirely. 

We decided to buy the Barbican boat and arranged a survey and sea trial through Mike. The survey involved Mike taking the yacht to another Marina for the lift out and also re-locating the yacht for the sea trial – Mike’s experience as a yachtman that day was particularly helpful to my son and I who hadn’t sailed for a number of years and were rusty so the trial was another success. On deciding to purchase, the deposit and payment arrangements were straightforward, unstressed with Mike being a pleasure to deal with. Mike even helped with getting the Life Raft serviced in time for our voyage back to the Solent as well as accommodating chandlery deliveries. 

If and when we look for another yacht, I’ll certainly contact Mike and have no hesitation in recommending him and his Brokerage to friends.

Hello Mike, just an update for you and the previous owners if you could tell them.  

Aran of Dart is safely in Bangor, Northern Ireland arriving Friday afternoon after a trip marred by gale force winds which forced us to call into Arklow ROI. She handled marvellously and is a real pleasure to sail.

Hello, and greetings from Finland 

 

Thank Rob for a great boat, and all the tools he left on board. Everything worked very well on the trip back to Finland via the Kiel Canal. 

Weather was good. The trip took us 25 days in total. 20 sailing days. Only 1 day at the dock for bad weather. And couple of rough sea days to keep things interesting!
