Dehler 25 (Dehlya 25) - 1987 - £7,250 New Listing, Draft Details
The Dehler 25 is a well proven design, easy to handle with sparkling performance and
Water ballast helping to reduce her weight for road trailering.
This is a good example of these superlative lifting keel trailer-sailers, with a good inventory, a Yanmar 1GM10 Diesel Inboard and a Dehler 4 wheeled braked road trailer with separate launching trolley.
To all intents and purposes 'Bluebird' would be described by most as a Dehler 25, but in
fact she was built and supplied as a Dehlya 25 (denoting that she was originally sold as a
'Sailaway' boat by Dehler with a series of factory packages for home completion). Having
said that, it is clear that the manufacturer's intention was that the 'packages' should be
simple to assemble and fit to a 'sailaway' boat, with the consequence that 'Bluebird' doesn't look to be any less than factory finished. Over the years additional/alternative equipment has been fitted which complicate the picture yet further. Suffice to say; as currently presented - most would be very hard-pushed to deduce that 'Bluebird' is anything other than a very presentable and trailerable, later vintage Dehler 25, with an inboard diesel engine and a substantial four-wheeled 'piggyback' trailer.
The current ownership has run for eighteen years since 2001 and in that time this yacht has received considerable attention: The keel has been replaced, along with all bearings and locating pads; a replacement Yanmar 1GM10 diesel was fitted, which also had a major overhaul in 2012; The standing rigging was renewed in 2011/12, the underwater surfaces are Copper-coated (2005 and again in 2015). And a new GRP Rudder blade fitted January 2020
Meanwhile the trailer has had new suspension units, three new wheels, a replacement hitch and new winch fitted.

Sails & Rigging

The standard Dehler-supplied aluminium alloy mast and boom are supplemented by an
aluminium spinnaker pole. The mast is stepped and hinged within a stainless steel
(replacement) mast step and this is well braced and supported by the top of the keel box
within the hull.
The mast is fractionally rigged, but unusually stayed with 'forward' lower shrouds as well as the more normal aft lowers. A Plastimo 608S roller reefing system is fitted to the for'stay for the headsail, while the mainsail is reefed by means of two slab reefs that are led aft,to the cockpit.
The 'forward' lower shrouds come to the same pivot point as the mast in order that they
may remain tensioned as the mast is lowered, down into a receiving roller that is mounted on a raised and removable 'bridge' that closes the gap between the two aft pushpits. The roller then enables the lowered mast to be run forward and secured to the forward pulpit for trailing.
The standing rigging was replaced during the winter 2011/12.
The sail inventory includes:
• Mainsail.
• Roller reefing genoa, with UV protection, sacrificial strip. This strip could do with
replacement now.
• Symmetrical spinnaker.
